Privatization of housing (apartments)

Privatization of an apartment is the process of acquiring ownership of state-owned or municipally owned housing by Ukrainian citizens. This procedure is regulated by the Law of Ukraine “On Privatization of the State Housing Fund” and other regulations.

  • Tenants who have a rental agreement.
  • Tenant’s family members (spouses, children, parents, other persons permanently residing in the apartment).

It is worth noting that every citizen is entitled to free privatization within the standard of 21 m² per person + 10 m² per family.

The following are subject to privatization:

  • apartments in the state and municipal housing stock;
